I originally learned of John Carter from the movie adaption. Then I read about the major appearance differences (Movie adaption: Blonde, Original: Dark haired) As I'm one for major book tradition (horrified by the movie's adaption) I absolutely love this, he (and I hope this isn't offended) reminds me of Richard Armitage greatly, great work I plan to read the book as soon as possible
I this on my Facebook feed (from your page), and on tumblr before I saw it here. It's so weird to cross the streams like that lol.
Anyway, as always this is such great work. I'm so used to seeing pretty and pristine women from you that it's actually a nice change of pace to see such torn (and sexy) looking men (not that I'll ever get tired of the former, mind you).
As per always, you have such a good eye for colour harmonies, as evidenced in the way the sky is rendered in both orange and blue. The textures play off nicely here; from the gold of his rapier (?) to his sunburnt shoulder. The mass of black hair nicely frames his well-detailed face; those eyes belong to a man who's been through the ringer. I also love the little detailing done in white (which I'm assuming is liquid mask?). But my absolute favorite part? Ass.
Lovely painting! I agree with cesca before me, nice to see such an expressive face (your characters are always beautiful, but they tend to have unexpressive faces). Oh and no problems whatsoever with this cheekier version of Carter
