The client wanted early 90s fashion, so I gave it to him in spades. Great art direction by him. We have Oya, Storm, Frenzy, and M. (I also loved showcasing ONLY ethnic minority mutants. How often does that get to happen??) I really wanted to capture the features of African American women. I hate when artists/comics draw western features for a character, give them a dark tan, and call it a day.

Oya is giving you youthful midriffs and high skirts and socks and heels (yes!)

Storm is sophisticated minimalist. Chanel high class couture.

Frenzy's a bad bitch, in Versace bondage of 92.

M is giving you Ms. Cindy. JPG 90s realness.

Was that not suppose to be them? Cause when I first saw this pic I thought it was Rihanna and Emeli Sande. That looks exactly like Rihanna. The outfit looks like the one she wore in Umbrella or some video and Storm looked exactly like Emeli but darker skin (Emile is half white Irish so she has more European features.)Actually all of those singers are Biracial.

Nope, not them. I don't even remember who I modeled each of them after. The commissioner had very specific ideas of what he wanted each character to wear. But I love that you saw all those singers in them. :D

Top marks on the features here, my Aunt said that to me one day, that by and large artists can't make decent afro-centric features. I was surprised how difficult it is. I guess it's because you think by going for the obvious differences (mouth, nose, hair) will give your character the right look. I also love what you've done with the hair her. Artists would commonly give the characters European hair but I notice that although straight the hair seems to be styled and straightened afro.

All in all your ladies seem to be well studied.
